SHE'S NOT MY DATE by Blue-Fox SHE'S NOT MY DATE by Blue-Fox
asked to try my hand at genderbends so yeah

personally with genderbends i like their designs to stay mostly the same so it's sort of awkward when the characters are irl male actors

i don't think femlock would care enough about her physical appearance to cut her hair or put on makeup or anything, but after meeting femjohn (I LIKE JOAN, JOAN IS A GOOD NAME) she starts to look gradually more polished in public I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE NOTICED but i'm pretty sure sherlock looks healthier after living with john......... ha ha ha

also i love martin freeman's stupid lip pursing so much

Oh god this is so lovely. It's the best femSherlock and femJohn I've seen-you got them just right so that they look exactly like the characters but not masculine and it's just fantastic *swoon*

Somehow the first thing that I think is beautiful and note-worthy is the hair and the shadows <3 I think this is the best genderbent Sherlock!

The only reason he looks decent at all is because he is narcissistic.

I LOVE FEM!JOHN SO MUUUUCH!!!

Also, I always like a genderbend a little better when they leave Sherlock's name alone (it's not like it's specifically a boy's name. Or anybody's name but his/hers) and name John Joan. It's just so similar, it's always the best choice.

Sherlock is actually an ordinary English first name, which I'm pretty sure is specifically for males. It's just a very old name, and not one you'd give to your child since anyone would connect it to Sherlock Holmes.

Actually, from what I heard, Arthur Conan Doyle picked the name from someone's surname. So at the very least, if what you say is true, ACD was unaware of it too.

I'm not an expert on this, but from what I gathered, it can be both a first name and a surname, although it's far more common as a surname. Think of names like Taylor, for example. There's quite many names that are not used at all anymore, but do exist. But I don't know anyone who knows much about these things I could ask, so I'm not completely certain what I'm saying is true. It's just what I gathered.

Well, his brother's name is Mycroft. I'd say the parents were into odd names. Or smoking opium.

Hmm. That's quite interesting, actually. I'd always thought it was solely a surname up until ACD used it as a first name.
