japan had to be goddamn defeated in 1945 to return independence to korea, i don't know what the hell you're saying about listening to japan

Before the first Japanese Sino-war you been a tributary state and continued to be so under the influence of China. Korea itself was split between retaining the traditional relationship with China, while reformists wanted to establish closer ties with Japan and western nations. After two Opium Wars and French Sino Japanese war. We had totally got drugged up and beaten up. Japan saw this as an opportunity to replace Chinese influence in Korea with its own. So later on Korea was filled with propaganda from Japan that they would do as well as Japan (to be independent) but really Japan just wanted Korea under it's own influence.

No, I am talking about how Japan tricked Korea in believing by being further from China and being more independent like Japan (Japan was no longer under China's rule) they would be as successful like themselves.

I'll explain in Hetalia terms.
Yong Soon is told by Kiku in order for Wang Yao to acknowledge him, he must be independent (and under Japan control). Yong Soon is soooooyyyy happy and doesn't realize that Japan is trying to control him. THERE,
